More A minor noodling featuring my R8 Les Paul, Reinhardt MI-6, and my newly installed Mojo Custom Wound Classic PAFs. I stack an Eternity and a Barber LTD SR occasionally. These are by far the the sweetest, most articulate, and most balanced humbuckers I have tried. They actually sound the way Mojotone describes them. They are a blast to play and all three positions sound great. I am using a Line 6 Echo Park delay set to tape echo and a Barber LTD SR overdrive pedal and Lovepedal Eternity stacked occasionally.
If you have a little (…errr, or a massive amount of) Christmas cash tucked away or if you’ve been saving your pennies for a while – let’s say 15-20 years – then the result of the 2nd collaboration between Gibson and Jimmy Page might be enough to make your mouth water.
THE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Presser–Gibson Custom announces the Gibson Custom Jimmy Page “Number Two” Les Paul Limited Edition guitar modified by the legendary Jimmy Page himself.
Every musician knows that a late ’50s Sunburst Les Paul Standard is hard enough to come by. Obtaining a pristine and exemplary ‘59 ‘Burst and modifying it for heightened performance and vastly expanded tonal options? Unheard of…unless, of course, you’re Jimmy Page.
That’s exactly what the iconic Led Zeppelin guitarist, perhaps the world’s best-known Les Paul player, did with his own ‘59 Les Paul Standard, and now – thanks to the extreme efforts of Gibson’s Custom Shop and the intimate cooperation of Jimmy Page himself – the artist’s hallowed “Number Two” Les Paul is available in the form of the Custom Shop Jimmy Page “Number Two” Les Paul.
Produced in strictly limited numbers, with two levels of aging, this guitar captures the look, feel, sound, and versatility of one of the greatest artist-owned Les Pauls of all time.
The 1959 Les Paul that has come to be known as “Number Two” was purchased by Page in 1973 after trying for some time to acquire an exceptional second Les Paul. This was several years after having acquired his other legendary Les Paul – “Number One,” a ‘59 ‘Burst with a shaved-down neck profile and no serial number – from Joe Walsh. “Number Two” was essentially all original when he acquired it. Jimmy did have some modifications done to the neck shape so that it would more nearly match the feel of his “Number One.”
PRICING, YOU ASK?
I hope you’re kicking the habit in 2010 (whatever that habit may be) because you’re going to need the extra change for this one.

Posted by Jon in • Guitar News,

I received news from Reverend Guitars recently that they were releasing 3 new models one of which is a signature model guitar for David Bowie/Tin Machine and solo guitar legend Reeves Gabrels but it didn’t have quite as much of a wow factor as this signature model guitar for self-proclaimed King of Country Western Troubadours Unknown Hinson. I’m not going to lie to you I know absolutely nothing about this guy other than what was in the press release which says that Unkown Hinson is an underground guitar legend and voice of Early Cuyler, from Cartoon Network’s late night Adult Swim program, Squidbillies?!
The guitar is a lightweight semi-hollow guitar that can cover everything from authentic twang to classic rock kerrang with its slim 1-1/4” thick body and a full length center block which offers resonant tone, and reduced weight. The two Reverend P-90 pickups in combination with the Bass Contour control deliver a wide pallete of tone options. The black color scheme, bat inlays, and included Coffin Case complete the vampire-meets-hillbilly vibe. Other key features include a korina body with solid spruce top, 24.75” bolt-on maple neck, and Pin-Lock tuners.
Available in Black only. List: $1329, Street $1099.
The Unknown Hinson Signature will be on display at NAMM booth 1372.
Dear Mojo:
Thanks for the opportunity to show off the amplifier kit purchased for me by my wife for our 26th wedding anniversary. I’ve made other amplifier kits, but I love the completeness of the Mojo kit. And I make tube amplifiers for local musicians who love the Mojo sound!

Here’s a few shots of my latest scratch-built tube amp project: A 25W guitar amplifier using a Mojo British Vintage 12″ and other Mojo-supplied electronic components. This wasn’t a kit – I built it from scratch from the stack of parts shown. I built the cabinet, which is 16-1/2″ x 18″, out of ¾” birch plywood and upholstered it with padded tolex. I bent the preamp chassis from flat aluminum and used a pre-made BUD chassis for the amp/power supply.
Tube compliment is a 5U4, a Russian 6N2P (preamp and line out amp – it was a lot quieter than most modern 12AX7s!), a 12AT7 (tone shaping), a 12AU7 (driver), and a pair of 807’s in push-pull. The electrical circuit is similar to the rare classic 1954 Standel 25L15, with a few modern conveniences added: an external speaker jack, switchable speaker output impedance (to accommodate different outboard speakers with or without the internal speaker), a line out jack with its own level control, and a DPDT filament switch to accommodate either 12AX7s or 6N2Ps in the preamp socket. It’s smaller and lighter than the original 25L15 (36 vs. 52 lbs) and in my opinion the Mojo British Vintage 12-inch sounds every bit as good as the larger 15″ JBL D130 in the original.
Thanks, Mojo!
